Wow, church, thank you so much.

The count is in. On Sunday you gave/pledged £147,428.06!

That means, collectively, from a church of 240 members, we’ve given more than half a million pounds in 15 months!

I thank God for your generosity. I pray God would bless you all abundantly for trusting Him with your finances and sowing faithfully.

Thank you for holding nothing back.

If you were away and missed the message/chance to give, you know what I’m going to say, please do, it would be lovely to make it a round number; £150,000 or even £300,000, the latter being the amount we need to be able to do all of Phase 1. Details below.

[NOTE: To get us part-way there, we intend to sell both of our remaining investment properties, so £450k goes to Phase 1 and £450k to Phase 1A. We’re applying for suitable grant funds, and could receive £100-450k. We’re also emailing former members to invite them to sow something back into Chapel. If you’re more of a visual learner, here’s a graph of what that looks like: you’ll see there’s a £300k gap to get us to Phase 1 completion, and £800k in total to complete Phase 1a.]

If we don’t reach the £1.7million target for Phase 1, through giving, grants and the sale of property, then, amongst other options, we will look at staggering doing Phase 1 over a longer period of time and/or scaling back the project. Please pray with me that we won’t need to do the latter, and God will provide.

We have seen His favour in gaining planning permission, Carl Beech’s prophetic word, and in many other ways; let’s keep asking for God’s help to complete what He started.

One of the things that struck me, after Carl’s preach, is the passage he referenced several times in his message: Hebrews 13:5. He was speaking on Father’s Day so he rightly emphasised the latter part of the verse, that God will never leave or forsake a believer. The whole verse is: “Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”” Interesting! Finding our true contentment in our adoption (the spiritual blessings we have) as God’s beloved children, sets us free from the power and control of money and other idols/counterfeit gods in our lives.

The latter part is from Deuteronomy 31:6. It’s Moses’ God-given encouragement to his successor Joshua to lead God’s people over the Jordan river into the Promised Land, starting with the defeat of the seemingly undefeatable Jericho. “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you or forsake you.” Now, that’s pretty much what Jesus said to his apprentices, then, and now, at the end of his Great Commission; Matthew 28:20.

This is a great encouragement to us! As we take on the idols of money, fame, power, sex, comfort, image – ‘what people think about me’ – the Jericho of London and beyond; to see hundreds of lives transformed: GOD is with us! God IS with us! God is WITH us! God is with US! Wow!

Finally, please be part of your Life Group/regional prayer meeting this week, praying through our 300-50-1 faith goals.

If you’re not part of a group, you can find out about joining one here, and in the meantime, why not give up 30-60 minutes this week to bring them to God in prayer, here’s a guide to help you.

Thanks again!

Love and blessings,

Howard
