This is Part 2 of the fifth post in our parenting series. If you missed the others, including Biola’s first post, you can catch up here.

How exactly, do we raise up our children to know God, Love Him and do His will in a society that is far away from God?

As a parent of three teenagers who profess to Love God, have given their hearts to Jesus and endeavour to walk in His will, below is nutshell of the steps taken in our journey to where we are at today.  I will call it the TIER – and will go through these four points over the next week.

2. Intercede

Pray without ceasing for them. Paul said, “Oh my dear children! I feel as if I’m going through labour pains for you again, and they will continue until Christ is fully developed in your lives” (Galatians 4:19 NLT).

I do not mean to scare you but there is a battle for their souls and yours, and so we need to put on the whole armour of God including our prayer armour and pray daily that they will come to the knowledge of God and acknowledge Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. Here are some Scriptures and promises we can claim, declare and pray-in concerning us and our children:

“Behold, I and the children whom the Lord has given me are for signs and wonders… (Isaiah 8:18 KJV)

“All your children will be taught by the LORD, and great will be their peace.” (Isaiah 54:13 NIV)

“Out of the mouths of babes and unweaned infants You have established strength because of Your foes, that You might silence the enemy and the avenger” (Psalm 8:2 AMP)

“That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace.” (Psalm 144:12 KJV)

“…But as for me and my family, we will serve the LORD” (Joshua 24:15b NLT). May this be true of us and our children in Jesus’ Name.

Tune in next week, for points 3 & 4.
