Westminster Chapel is an evangelical church in Westminster, central London. The congregation was formed in 1840 and is part of the international family of Commission churches. We meet every Sundays at 11am for a short service that includes worship, preaching, prayer and sharing of good news stories. Right now our services are held in person with a limited number of spaces. We also meet online where there is live chat every 11am on Sundays, and replays of the most recent service run throughout the week. To view our past services, you can check out the sermons section of our website or our YouTube channel.
As a church, we value:
Acceptance & Transformation
Encouraging people to come as they are so we can embrace the with an honest, open welcome and invite them to a community of unconditional love where truth is spoken in love. Everything we do is done under the flags of grace and peace, as so many of the New Testament epistles begin.
Word & Spirit
Placing a high value on having Biblical depth and being doctrinally strong. We are traditional in the right sense, but also courageous on controversial issues and creative in terms of having a forward thinking mindset. We understand the significance of spiritual gifts and we encourage everyone to invite and pursue theirs in the presence of God.
Diversity & Unity
Chapel has members from all ages, ethnicities and income groups. We are all united and strong through and by the gospel.
Family & City
We look out for each other like a real family. There is no need to wear a mask. We do life together with authentic and infectious fellowship. We hope to show our compassion towards those in need from the strategic location that God has placed us in–– where we can be sacrificially present to seek the prosperity of the city.
Here’s some people from our church who you can connect with that would be more than happy to meet you through a phone or video call and answer any questions you may have about Westminster Chapel.
My name is Cindy. Both my husband and I were originally from Hong Kong too!
I have been living and working in London since I graduated decades ago! I have two grown-up children. My family of four have very diverse interests and hobbies. Thank God that we share the same faith and love for Hong Kong! If I could be of any help, I am very happy to share with you my journey, my church and work life. I hope you will find a spiritual home here and get to settle down soon.
The Wong’s moved to London from Canada in 2019 and have experienced first-hand what it’s like to settle in to a new city. As 2nd-generation Canadian-born Chinese with parents originally from Hong Kong, Ray & Gen have close ties to Hong Kong culture, values, and very importantly — food! Settling in London meant navigating different approaches to finding housing, using public transportation, and schooling for the kids. Since arriving in London, they’ve learned to re-create some familiar flavours like, 蛋撻, 港式奶茶, 义燒包, and 干炒牛河 using ingredients commonly available from a Tesco or Sainsbury’s (local supermarkets). Both Ray and Gen serve on the Westminster Chapel staff team: Ray is the Executive Pastor, and Gen leads the Christians Against Poverty Debt Centre.
