In the whole of human history, no-one is more loved and hated, or talked about, than Jesus Christ. This section discusses who he was and what he said.
Roughly two thousand years ago, Jesus was born in a nowhere town. Jesus’ mum was a poor, unwed teenage girl who was often mocked for claiming she conceived via a miracle. Jesus was adopted by a carpenter named Joseph and spent the first thirty years of his life in obscurity, swinging a hammer with his dad.
Around the age of thirty, Jesus began a public ministry that included preaching, healing the sick, feeding the hungry, and befriending social misfits such as drunks, prostitutes and thieves. Jesus’ ministry spanned only three short years before he was put to death for declaring himself to be God. He died by shameful crucifixion like tens of thousands of people before and after him.
Jesus changed history and millions of people have been personally changed by who he is and what he did, including the people you saw in the ‘OUR STORIES’ section of our site. This PDF discusses who Jesus really was – we encourage you to read through, and see for yourself.
Whether you’re reading about Jesus for the first time, or you’ve been attending church for years, the simple steps below will enable you to go deeper.
We champion Alpha as the first port of call for someone who isn’t a regular church-goer, who has questions about faith, God, religion and the meaning of life.
Over 2 million people in the UK and 15 million worldwide have now attended an Alpha course, an opportunity to explore the meaning of life, running in tens of thousands of churches of all denominations across the world.
Alpha is an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed setting over eight thought-provoking weekly sessions, including a meal. More information can be found on our Alpha page.
Come on a journey through Ephesians and learn how to flourish as a Christian right where you are. Over 7 weeks we will be answering some of the biggest questions you’ll ever ask:
– What is God’s big plan for the world and for me?
– What does it mean to be blessed by God and how can I bless others?
– What’s the point of church and what’s my point in church?
– How has God gifted me and what can I do with that?
– How can I walk with Jesus day by day?
– How can I stand strong in the face of opposition?
Equip is for absolutely anyone.
There are three ways we encourage you to connect to life at Westminster Chapel: Our App, Life Groups and membership.
Step 1 – The Chapel App, We’ve designed this app as a first port of call for newcomers, and as a means of creating community with all who attend our church. The Chapel App is packed with content and resources to help you grow and stay connected.
Step 2 – Life Groups are one of the best ways to meet people and become part of the church family. They are small groups of 8-12 people that meet in homes across the city, eat together, study the Bible, pray for one another and encourage each other in personal evangelism.
Step 3 – Membership is our way of ensuring that the leaders of the church know who they are looking after. If you want to make Westminster Chapel your home, simply complete the online membership course, including the questionnaire at the end, and we’ll get in touch to let you know what’s next.
Get Connected, download sermons, join a Life Group, keep up with events - stay up to date, wherever you are.
