Hi Everyone!

As we approach Christmas we wanted to make aware to you the Westminster Foodbank and the needs of our capital.

We are a part of the Trussell Trust Foodbank network which operates across the UK and our offices are located on Buckingham Gate within the London Borough of Westminster.

Our project was set up in 2011, primarily to help combat the problem of hunger. Despite being one of the most prosperous boroughs in London, Westminster has not been immune to chronic hunger with poverty remaining a major issue related closely to housing and homelessness, health, mental health and education problems.

Our vision is to be an easily accessible service that improves the livelihood of people living in Westminster through the provision of a nutritionally balanced supply of food items during times of crisis.

Since 2012, Westminster Foodbank has witnessed a continued increase in the number of people accessing our service and we have to-date fed 2,220 adults and 967 children.

Christmas Appeal

In the past, we depended wholly on a dedicated team of volunteers to support the work of the Foodbank. However, with a growing client base, we have found it vital to employ a part-time Project Manager to sustain, facilitate and grow the work of the project, to manage its daily operations and meet the increasing need. This has already led to larger food donations; an expansion of our food storeroom; and increased local residents support.

As we approach Christmas the Foodbank will be giving out emergency food to an increasing number of families in crisis. The needs include food as well as non-food collections, but to ensure the management of the Foodbank is effective there is also a need to help fund the salary of our part-time Foodbank Manager. Could you help?

Ways in which you can support us:

  1. Consider Westminster Foodbank as your firm/business’ Christmas charity to support this year.
  2. Host a collection at your workplace/office, ask those to donate money to our Foodbank.
  3. Set-up a booth outside your workplace, give out mince pies and hot chocolate and ask for donations to Westminster Foodbank.
  4. Host a coffee morning or bake sale with all proceeds going to our Foodbank.
  5. Host a “Christmas Jumper” dress-down day with donations going to our Foodbank.

If you would like any further information on the work of Westminster Foodbank or the Trussell Trust, please do not hesitate to speak to a member of our Foodbank team using the details below.
