Catalyst; a person or event that precipitates a reaction or change.
Catalyst is a bi-monthly meeting that brings together all of the Students & 20s from across the church and beyond. The aim of Catalyst is threefold; to deepen community, inspire mission and amplify worship. But it doesn’t stop with the Students & 20s! We want to see all of these things spread quickly to the wider church and beyond. Listen to Pete’s intro talk here, read a brief summary of each section below and have a listen to the talks from the first meeting.
Acts 2:42
They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

As a body of young people, we want to be deeply committed to the four things in this passage: teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread and prayer. God designed the Church to work in complete unity, not just as acquaintances or friends, but as family. When we come together each month we are aiming for a community of young people who are devoted to Jesus and who rely on one another. We will eat together, we will study the Bible together, we will be on mission together and we will worship together.
1 Peter 2:9
You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

This passage gives us our ‘Job Title’ and ‘Job Description’; we are God’s chosen people, chosen to tell the world about Him. Mission is not an optional extra of the Christian life, it is the Christian life! God calls each one of us to mission daily and he only relinquishes that commission when we breathe our last breath. Each month we will be exploring a different aspect of what it looks like to be on mission and how we can be more effective in all areas of life.
1 Corinthians 14:1
Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy.

The whole of this central part of 1 Corinthians gives us vital principles to follow when we worship God together. But first and foremost is to worship out of love; love for God and love for one another. As we build community and work together on mission, we believe that an authentic love will emerge, which will express itself in corporate worship. One of Westminster Chapel’s core values is ‘Holy Spirit Power’ and we believe as we come together God will speak to us through prophetic edification, encouragement, direction and healing as well as through us getting together and praying into all aspects of one another’s lives. Each monthly meeting will finish with an extended time of worship because we can think of nothing more exciting than singing praise to our incredible God!
