PRAYER AND PROPHECY

John Wesley once said, "God does nothing except in answer to prayer." E.M. Bounds wrote, "Only God can move mountains, but faith and prayer move God." Like these men, we believe in the importance and power of prayer, that's why it's one of our values: "the church we see is... marked by exuberant praise, rich encounters with God's manifest presence, thankfulness and genuine expressions of our total dependence on God for His guidance and aid."

We also strongly believe in the gift of prophecy (see our Senior Pastor's book, Moving in the Prophetic). Without the prophetic we will always be restricted to reacting to past crises, rather than proactively building towards future happenings. We take seriously the Apostle Paul's timely exhortation in 1 Corinthians 14:1: "Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy."

There are a number of ways that you would be welcome to join us in expressing our commitment to these values:

Prayer Shield

In January 2009 we launched a prayer initiative called Prayer Shield - a one year commitment to pray regularly for Westminster Chapel along the lines of following five prayer points:

The Past:

• Thank God for over 160 years of perseverance, preservation, and provision in Westminster Chapel.

The Present:

• For greater anointing, wisdom, power and protection for Greg and the Leadership Team.
• For the blessing, success and growth of CityLifeGroups.
• For the full realisation of our Mission, Vision, Values.

The Future:

• That God will hasten the time of the fulfilment of prophetic words given to Westminster Chapel.

Although, the original timeframe has expired, we still encourage every member to regularly pray through the Prayer Shield, individually, in Fight Clubs of Faith (coming soon) and CityLifeGroups. There's now no need to sign a pledge, just download the Prayer Shield docs below and get praying.

Monthly Prayer Meetings
On the first Friday of (almost) every month we hold a vibrant prayer meeting from 7pm-9.30pm that we encourage everyone to attend. Please click here for details of the next meeting.

Sunday Prayer Meetings
At 10.10am every Sunday morning, there is a 40 minute prayer meeting in advance of our 11am service.

Sunday Services Prayer Ministry Teams
Every Sunday we have a Prayer Ministry Team available, should the preacher feel that it is appropriate to call for a response to his sermon.

Sunday Services Prophecy
We have a microphone set up at our 11am service for prophetic contributions from our members. If someone feels led by the Holy Spirit to share something corporately, they move to the front right pew, speak to Ben Chan or a member of the Leadership Team to discreetly explain their message, picture, impression, Scripture passage, etc. before sharing it (if appropriate) with the congregation.

Prophecy Workshops and Training Days
