SHOULD CHRISTIANS EMBRACE EVOLUTION?
Biblical and scientific responses
Paperback: 192 pages
Publisher: Inter-Varsity Press (November 2009)
ISBN: 9781844744060
RRP: £9.99
Read the introduction
Description:
The twenty-first century is witnessing an aggressive attack on the credibility of Christian faith by the 'new atheists', who argue essentially that evolution has made religious faith utterly redundant.
In the past, Christians held to a variety of approaches to reconciling their theology with scientific understanding, and were accorded respect. However, with the attack from the new atheists, any view that does not fully accept evolution is now being denigrated by those Christians in the scientific community who do accept it. There have been calls for Christians to celebrate Darwin - and to embrace Darwinian evolution or acknowledge that they are opposed to science.
For the contributors to this volume, this is a false premise. In response, they set out a clear framework for the relevant issues and confront key questions to which this gives rise. They are committed to the authority of Scripture, the need for careful exegesis, and the importance of rigorous scientific investigation. They offer valuable perspectives on a contentious and complex area of debate, for non-specialists prepared to weigh the information, seek further clarification, and draw their own conclusions.
The contributors include Alistair Donald (Church of Scotland), Alistair McKitterick (Moorlands College), Michael Reeves (UCCF), Greg Haslam (Westminster Chapel), R. T. Kendall, Steve Fuller (Warwick University), Andy McIntosh (Leeds University), Geoff Barnard (Cambridge University) and John Walton (St Andrews University).

THE MAN WHO WRESTLED WITH GOD
Lessons from Jacob's encounter with the living God
Paperback: 160 pages
Publisher: New Wine Press (June 2009)
ISBN: 978-1905991372
RRP: £7.99
Read the first chapter
Description:
The story of Jacob at the Brook Jabbok is one of the most mysterious and puzzling in all of Scripture. Jacob is forced to wrestle with a supernatural being of uncertain origin and is left permanently marked by the encounter. Yet somehow, at the same time, he is propelled forward into his God-ordained destiny.
The story leaves many questions unanswered. At the same time it reveals a great deal about God's dealings with us as individuals and gives us insight into the sometimes violent inner transformation that each of our souls must undergo as God shapes us for His purposes.
The thought of wrestling with God should fill us with absolute terror, but it should also give us great hope that God is personally involved in our lives. Like Jacob, each of us needs to experience God's ability to forgive the mistakes of our guilty past, heal the wounds of our heart, and turn our fears and tears into laughter once again so that we are better prepared for the future He has planned for us.

MOVING IN THE PROPHETIC
A Biblical guide to effective prophetic ministry today
Paperback: 384 pages
Publisher: Monarch (January 2009)
ISBN: 978-1854248367 (UK)
ISBN: 978-0825461750 (USA)
RRP: £12.99
Read the first chapter
Description:
The gift of prophecy has always invited some degree of opposition and controversy. It is one of the most vivid displays of God's presence and power among his people. Many, however, struggle with the very concept of prophecy. They are troubled by the possibility that God may have direct access to our minds.
Greg Haslam argues that such concerns are misplaced. He considers how God speaks, and how we should hear him; how we can test and deliver a prophetic word; and how we can grow in confidence as we learn to discern what the Spirit is saying to the church.
What others have said:
Dr Mark Stibbe - The Father's House Trust: "A great resource for anyone wanting to start exercising the gift of prophecy. This is a clear and compelling argument for eagerly desiring prophecy, especially in the local church."
Dr Michael Eaton - Chrisco Fellowship of Churches, Nairobi, Kenya: "An excellent guide to this vital ministry."
Jeff Lucas - author, speaker and broadcaster: "Greg Haslam offers us sane, biblical wisdom about the prophetic in this vital, long overdue book. This is no inspirational snack, but a gourmet feast to be savoured. Don't miss it."
Dr R.T. Kendall - Minister, Westminster Chapel (1977 - 2002): "Greg has dealt with a most needed and misunderstood subject in modern Christian thinking - and done so with theological acumen, biblical knowledge and spiritual intelligence. For those who are interested in understanding the prophetic and developing their gift in this area, this is the book for you."

PREACH THE WORD!
The call and challenge of preaching today
Hardcover: 624 pages
Publisher: Sovereign World (June 2006)
ISBN: 978-1852404437
RRP: £24.99
Description:
Over the years there has been a decline in bold, authoritative and powerful preaching. In many churches this has resulted in a leakage of spiritual power, declining numbers and stunted spiritual growth.
In order to provide a remedy for this situation we, at Westminster Chapel London, embarked upon a preaching school - it was simply called Preach the Word!
A wide range of outstanding teachers, preachers and communicators were invited to share their skills, wisdom and strongest conviction on a number of themes.
- Preach the Word!
- God Made Them Great
- Rightly Handling the Word of God
- The Anointing to Preach
- The Nuts and Bolts
- Unity and Maturity
- Preaching into the Culture
- The Making of a Preacher
The transcript of the 20 contributors' teaching has now been edited and distilled into this book. My prayer is that, through this book, the legacy that Westminster Chapel stands for, namely the marriage of ministering the Word of God with strong dependence on the power of the Holy Spirit, will bring hope to both the Church and the needy world in which we live.
